The Concordia Lutheran Football team beat the Second Baptist Eagles in stunning fashion on Friday night 24-22. The Eagles were the first to put points on the board when their opening drive stalled and they were forced to kick a field goal. The Crusaders struggled to move the ball on their opening possession and punted the ball away to the Eagles. Second Baptist drove down the field and scored early in the 2nd quarter to go up 10-0. The Concordia Lutheran Football team traveled to Hempstead last Friday to take on the Bobcats.  The Bobcats struck first scoring on a 9 yard run. The Crusaders threatened to score on the very next possession but turned it over on downs, deep in Hempstead territory.  After a stellar defensive stand the Crusaders got the ball back with a short field and scored on 4th and 8 with a 30 yard pass from B. The Lady Crusader Cross Country Team ran home with SECOND place at the Galveston Ball High School Meet on Friday, Sept.8th. The meet was attended by 5A/6A public schools as Concordia was just one of two private schools in attendance. In the Varsity girls 4k (2.5 miles) race, there were 16 teams and 112 athletes. Concordia had six girls in the Varsity race consisting of one Freshman, three Sophomores, one Junior and one Senior. Girls take home title at 9th annual IWA Cross Country Meet The girls Varsity Cross Country Team took first place out of eleven teams at their first meet of the season.  In the team scores, Lauryn Kastenschmidt scored at 4th, Emily Engelbart – 9th, Karsyn Wendler – 13th, Annie Walker – 14th, and Rachel Brownell – 28th. This brought the Crusaders to a team total of 55 points, edging out Woodlands Christian, the 2016 4A State Champions. The girls packed up really well and pushed each other through the whole race.
