Hello new and returning Concordia Boys Cross Country parents! I am already getting excited about the 2017 Cross Country season and about working out with this great group of Crusader boys! It is extremely important that we use these summer months to get prepared for training and racing in the August heat. This is our preseason, and we need to use it to get stronger as runners and teammates. If runners are in town and not working, we would like to see them three days a week. Concordia Crusader Football Coach Bobbby Lindquist and Hunter McQuary will be attending the Touchdown Club of Houston’s 12th annual Comerica Bank Sportsmanship Luncheon, presented by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, set for noon, Wed., Jan. 25, at the JW Marriott, 5150 Westheimer at Sage. This is a feel-good event, where they will  recognize what is right with high school football in Greater Houston. The Concordia Crusader Football team traveled to Palestine last Saturday to take on the Trinity Christian Trojans in the area round of the TAPPS 6A state football playoffs. The Trojan offense put up two touchdowns before the Crusaders answered with a score of their own, with 30 seconds left in the first half. Making the score going into halftime 7-14 in favor of the Trojans. With 5 minutes left in the third quarter Kendahl Ross punched one in to tie the game at 14. The Crusader Volleyball team won their first 6A State Championship Friday afternoon in Brownwood.  It was an intense and tightly contested match that went to the 5th set.  In the 5th set the Lady Friars went up 13-11 over the Crusaders when Coach Odinga called a timeout to rally her players.  After the timeout the Crusaders cut the lead to one, but Lynch scored again to make it match point.  The girls cut the lead to one again and eventually tied it up 14-14.  After escaping defeat the Lady Crusaders never trailed Bishop Lynch again.  Although the Lady Friars tied…

Concordia Volleyball beat Plano Prestonwood in 5 sets 25-21, 23-25, 26–24, 19-25 and 15-6 to clinch a spot in the Final Four of the State Tournament next weekend.  The games will be played at Howard Payne University in Brownwood.  The Lady Crusaders will take the floor to play San Antonio IWA at 7:00 PM. The Concordia Lutheran Crusaders ended their 3 game skid with a dominating 40-0 win over Beaumont Kelly.  The win secured a spot in the TAPPS 6A playoffs for the 13th straight year.  The Crusaders will take on the Trojans of Trinity Christian Addison, this Saturday at 2:00 PM in Palestine at Wildcat stadium: 1600 S Loop 256 — Palestine, Texas 75801.  The win ensured the Crusaders would have a winning season and finished the season 6-4.

The girls cross country team was busy running last week, competing in the Faith West Cross country meet on October 15th  and the district meet last Tuesday. The Girls did an amazing job at Faith West with both Varsity and JV teams achieving first place. The Varsity ladies placed first out of 16 teams and the JV ladies placed first as well and scored a total of 16 points, just one point over a perfect cross country score. Crusader football added another “W” in the win column last week by defeating the Lutheran South Pioneers. The victory makes the Crusaders 5-1 on the season. Following a blowout win over the Falcons of Brookshire Royal, 49-15, the Crusaders continued playing stifling defense. Aided by big hits and sacks the Crusaders held the Pioneers to 14 points. The offense got it rolling in the 2nd quarter with a Kendahl Ross Touchdown. Then struck again in the 3rd with a Jack Wilkins TD and two-point conversion, which put the Saders up 14-7.
