Girls Cross Country Runs Away From Competition


Girls take home title at 9th annual IWA Cross Country Meet

The girls Varsity Cross Country Team took first place out of eleven teams at their first meet of the season.  In the team scores, Lauryn Kastenschmidt scored at 4th, Emily Engelbart – 9th, Karsyn Wendler – 13th, Annie Walker – 14th, and Rachel Brownell – 28th. This brought the Crusaders to a team total of 55 points, edging out Woodlands Christian, the 2016 4A State Champions. The girls packed up really well and pushed each other through the whole race. Lauryn, Emily, and Karsyn all had personal records of 13:06, 13:32, and 13:54.  In the JV race, Emily Cooper, Laurie Lamendola, and Meredith Jones led the way for the Crusaders. In the team scores, Emily scored at 4th, Laurie scored at 7th, and Meredith scored at 13th. With new individuals on both teams, the Ladies are showing great potential for the this season.
