The Concordia Crusader football team took on the Hitchcock Bulldogs last Friday night and beat them by a score of 40-12. The Crusaders were led on offense by a pair of touchdown passes from A. Garza to B. Hurley and a shutdown defense.
Crusader special teams set the tone for the game when J. Reynolds blocked a punt for a safety. On the ensuing drive the Crusader offense scored on a 3 yard run from K.Ross. The bulldogs answered with 7 minutes left in the 2nd quarter to make the game 9-6. Concordia answered right back with a scoring drive of 6 plays to extend their lead to 10 going into the half.
The Crusaders got the ball in the second half and marched down the field. Their drive stalled on the Hitchcock 10 yard line and J. Marsh finished off the drive with a FG. With the score 19-6 the Bulldogs answered with an 80 yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 19-12. These would be the last points the bulldogs would score all night. Concordia would go on to score on its next 3 drives. The win gives CLHS football a 3-0 record going into their homecoming game against a winless Brookshire-Royal team.
