Concordia Lutheran Softball sailed to an easy victory over Incarnate Word Academy 13-3 on Friday. The Crusaders opened up an early lead in the first inning when Kiersten Rich drew a walk, scoring one run. They took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third, Kate Hassell doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run and then scored on a stolen base during Alyssa Ramirez’s at bat. Then Ramirez singled , driving in one. They put up five runs in the fourth inning. Abby Koehn, Ashton McClain, Rich, Harley Byrne, and Ramirez each had RBIs in the big inning.
Ramirez took the win for Crusaders. She allowed eight hits and three runs over six innings, striking out three and walking zero.
Shasha took the loss for Incarnate Word Academy. She went five and two-thirds innings, allowing 13 runs on 12 hits and striking out one.
They Crusader bats totaled 12 hits in the game. Ramirez, Koehn, McClain, Hassell, and Rich all collected multiple hits for Concordia Lutheran Crusaders Varsity. Rich, Hassell, McClain, Koehn, and Ramirez each managed two hits to lead Concordia. McClain led the Crusaders with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with six stolen bases. Concordia Lutheran Crusaders Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field.
