Girls Cross has fun in the sun in Galveston

The Lady Crusader Cross Country Team ran home with SECOND place at the Galveston Ball High School Meet on Friday, Sept.8th. The meet was attended by 5A/6A public schools as Concordia was just one of two private schools in attendance. In the Varsity girls 4k (2.5 miles) race, there were 16 teams and 112 athletes. Concordia had six girls in the Varsity race consisting of one Freshman, three Sophomores, one Junior and one Senior. Five of them placed in the top 25. L. Kastenschmidt (Fr) took 5th place with a time of 16:31, E. Engelbart (So) took 10th place with a time of 16:51, A. Walker (Jr) took 13th place with a time of 16:58, K. Wendler (So) took 17th place with a time of 17:28, E. Cooper (So) took 25th place with a time of 17:58, and R. Brownell (Sr) took 56th place with a time of 18:52. It was a very exciting and fun experience for the girls! They are starting to see their hard work pay off.
The JV ladies also had a very successful Meet as they took THIRD place overall. There were 19 teams and 179 girls in their race. L. Lamendola (Jr) led the way for the Crusaders taking 9th place. M. Wooddell (So) was right behind her at 18th place, and C. Brice (So) followed at 22nd place.
