Girls’ Soccer Core Values

2016-2017 Lady Sader Soccer Core Value’s

Core Value Expectation
1

Responsibility

For every group endeavor, each individual bears responsibility and plays an important role in reaching our common goal.
2

Community

Indicates that Girls Soccer will contribute to the fabric of the Concordia family by using soccer as a vehicle to serve others, celebrate the school, and be a community encompassing our teams, staff, and alumni.  We serve as role models, and leaders seeking not only to teach others but also to learn from their experiences.
3

Education

Players are held to high standards on the playing field and in the classroom. At all times, their main focus is academics, followed closely by success in soccer. Players develop time management skills to balance both academics and athletics and will be held to the same standards as non-athletes, while also finding time for worship.
4

Faith

Our faith is central to who we are and is represented in our pre- and post-game team prayers, devotions, and actions on and off the field.
5

Sportsmanship

Athletes, demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times by respecting their school, coaches, teammates, opponents, officials, and the game.  It is also reflected in the `faith’ that teammates must have in each other in order to succeed and the respect we must have for our opponents if we are to effectively demonstrate our core values. It is about recognizing the image of God in others.  We use the competitive spirit and sportsmanship we develop as teammates to do our part to become the very best.  Our goal is to win and to excel at the highest level while acting and competing in a way that reflects our core values.
6

Integrity

We are committed to the highest sense of integrity encompassing every aspect of our behavior as members of the Concordia community.  We strive for high moral character, honor, respect, and honesty in all our actions realizing that the strength of a team is based on the integrity of its members.
7

Humility

Humility is the virtue of being aware that God is the author of all good, and the realization that we are not God.
Actions Speak Louder Than Words
With the core values listed above, we will be able to BE witnesses to other students and schools through our actions and not just witness verbally. Jesus calls us to “BE Witnesses”
Not Just “TO Witness”

Matthew 5:16: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

1 John 3:18: Little children, let’s not love with words or speech but with action and truth.

James 1:22: But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

James 2:17: In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
