-On Friday November 17 heading into the Thanksgiving break, the CLHS Lady Crusader soccer team played host to SPC powerhouse Episcopal High School and came away with a hard fought 1-0 win in PK overtime.
With the game ending in regulation time tied 0-0 the outcome was to be determined by penalty kicks and the Lady Crusaders prevailed (5-4) hitting all 5 penalty shots.
The 5 players who successfully found the back of the net for Concordia on their PK’s were:
- E. Brandenburg
- K. Wendler
- A. Hinson
- R. Marx
- M. Rasberry
Another stellar performance in goal by freshman Abby Koehn preserved the shut out.
-Concordia Girls Soccer team moves to 4-2 on the season and 1-0 in District play with a convincing 6-0 win at Duchesne on Tuesday night November 28. Senior midfielders K. Wendler and E. Brandenburg each scored 3 goals to lead the offensive attack. Defensively the Lady Saders were led by Junior A. Hinson, Senior N. Shrewsbury, and Freshman L. Kastenschmidt. Both Freshman A. Koehn and sophomore A. Lanier were strong in goal preserving the shutout.
-The girls lost to St. John’s 23 from Katy, 0-1, November 30 on the South Campus in their second district game. The Crusaders dominated the game with several shots on goal, most of them hitting the cross bar, and possessing the ball for the majority of the match. St. John’s lone goal came on a penalty kick late in the 2nd half, which was placed perfectly above the outstretched arms of the keeper. They only had one shot on goal before that.
-Last night the girls traveled to Beaumont to take on the Lady Bulldogs of Monsignor Kelly High School. The lady Crusaders braved the cold and wet conditions, but dropped their district contest 2-5. N. Shrewsbury and E. Brandenburg scored for the Crusaders. The loss dropped the girls to 4-4 and 1-2in district.
The Lady Crusaders will take on their distrct rival, St. Agnes, this Thursday at 5:00 PM on the South Campus.
