Sader Swimming has strong season debut at the LCISD Private School Invitational.


The boys and Girls swimming team headed to Lamar Consolidated this past Friday to compete in their first meet of the year. The boy’s team finished 5th out of 12 teams and were led by Junior Joey Shine who won two individual events on the day (1:49. 42 200yd Freestyle and 55.56 100yd Butterfly). Junior Mason Hevle had a second place finish in the 100yd Backstroke with a time of 1:02.34. Sophomore Mason Swanner managed a 2nd place finish in the 100yd Breaststroke with a time of 1:07.81.  The Boys 200yd Medley relay (1:48.79) and 400yd Freestyle relay (3:36.02) both finished 2nd overall. Swimming on those relays was M. Hevle, M. Swanner, J. Shine and E. Kraft.


The girls swimming team was led by Freshman Erin Tilley. In her High School swimming debut Tilley Managed to win two individual events (200yd Freestyle 1:59.00 and 100yd Freestyle 54.21). Senior Monica Gumina finished first and second in her events respectfully (50yd Freestyle, 1st place with a time of 24.04 and 2nd place in the 500yd Freestyle 5:05.51).  Junior Kaiti Walko finished 2nd in the 100yd Butterfly with a time of 1:02.82.  The Sader girls (M. Gumina, E.Kiel, K. Walko, E.Tilley won the 200yd Medley relay breaking the school record and beating last year’s state champions in the event with a time of 1:55.71. The girls team also set three individual school records on the day: Monica Gumina set school records in the 50yd and 500yd Freestyle event and Freshman Emma Kiel set the school record in the 100yd Breaststroke with a time of 1:16.93. In the final event of the day the Sader girls managed to finish 2nd in the 400yd Freestyle Relay with a time of 4:01.51 (A.Daubendiek, K. Walko, R. Reeder & E. Tilley) After all was said and done the girls managed to finish in 2nd place out of 14 teams.


Both the boys and girls swimming teams will be back in action on Saturday November 4th at the Spring Branch Natatorium competing in the Polar Bear Invitational. Meet starts at 1:30pm.
