The girls swimming team traveled to Rosenberg for the Lamar Consolidated Private School Invitational on Saturday. It was a great showing for the lady Sader’s who finished 2nd behind last years Tapp’s Division 1 state champions St. Agnes.

The girls’ team broke 4 records by the end of the day. Junior transfer Monica Gumina broke the Lamar consolidated pool records in the 200 yd Freestyle (1:57.33) and 100 yard freestyle (52.57). The girls’ 400-yard freestyle relay (M. Gumina, K. Shipley, K. Walko, A. Brandenburg) also broke the Concordia Lutheran School record with a time of 3:55.96.

The Girls team had 4 event winners on the day. Junior Monica Gumina won the 200yd freestyle and 100yd freestyle. Sophomore Kaiti Walko won the 100yd butterfly (1:03.87) and the 400yd Freestyle relay won gold.

“Coming out of this meet we have a bunch of momentum in our favor, but that’s all it is right now. We are in a really good place and with a couple more months of hard training we can accomplish some impressive things at the state championships in February” coach Subda said.

The girls swimming team will have this weekend off before returning to competition on Saturday November 12th at the LCISD natatorium for the Polar Bear Invitational.
