Concordia Girl’s Tennis
The Concordia Tennis team has a major goal, to bring honor and glory to Christ on and off the court. As a team we are going to utilize the below core values to strengthen and hold each other accountable in reaching that goal. If you are going to commit to being on the team, we ask you fully commit to following and respecting these values.
1 Corinthians 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.”
Everything we do on the courts and off the courts is going to be focused on glorifying Christ. As a CLHS Tennis player, you are committing to glorifying God through every action.
- Work Ethic
Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
When practice starts, it is time to give 100% effort. When we start to warm up- that is not a time to start talking about your day. It is a time to focus and get prepared to have a successful practice. When drilling & playing matches, that is a time to focus on the task at hand and utilize that time to get better. When you step on the court, we expect to see full 100% effort.
John 13: 34-35 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
CLHS tennis will be built on respecting your coaches, peers, parents, and opponents. Throughout the season we are going to run into moments this will not be easy (we are all human!) but we need to handle each situation with respect for other individuals.
Philippians 2:14 “Do everything without grumbling or arguing.”
Attitude is crucial and ties into each of our core values. Tennis is going to be frustrating at times, people you interact with on the court are going to be difficult, and you are going to feel like it doesn’t matter if you don’t give 100% at times. This gives you even more reason to have an awesome attitude when you show up! Be ready to work hard, have fun, and glorify God!
- Team Mentality
Romans 12:10 “Show family affection to one another with brotherly love. Outdo one another in showing honor.
Tennis is traditionally an individual sport, but at CLHS we are a team. We are going to honor our teammates and build them up.
