Concordia’s Girls Basketball team earned third place in the Rosehill Christian Lady Eagle Basketball Tournament over Thanksgiving Break. The Lady Crusaders went 3-1 in the tournament that featured 12 private school teams from the Houston metro and Beaumont.
On the first day of the tournament, Concordia faced off against Conroe Christian and Legacy Prep in pool play with 54-26 and 38-28 wins respectively. Last week, Concordia lost by 10+ points to Legacy Prep, but our team used a tenacious defensive effort and sharp shooting on Monday to avenge the first result.
After a solid first day, the team earned the right to play the host, Rosehill Christian, in the semifinals of the Gold Bracket. Concordia struggled to keep up with the tall, long, athletic, and gnat-like defense of the Lady Eagles from Rosehill who have retooled with the help of many transfers this year. Rosehill beat the Lady Crusaders 46-22 after they closed the game on a 30-6 run.
In the 3rd place game, Concordia tipped off against Beaumont Legacy Christian Academy. The Lady Crusaders controlled the game from the get-go, leading 33-21 at half. Both teams cooled off in the 3rd and 4th quarters with only a total of 20 points scored over the final 16 minutes. Concordia won the game 46-28 to claim 3rd place.
McKenna D. (Jr.) led Concordia offensively averaging 11.3 ppg in the tournament and she was joined by Carly W. (Sr.) on the All-Tournament team.
Concordia is now 5-3 Overall on the season after a solid last four days having gone 4-1 in that stretch. Next up for the Lady Crusaders will be a non-district match up with CHSM Homeschool on Tuesday, Nov. 29th at 6:30 pm inside Crusader Gymnasium.
