In the middle of February, several members of Concordia’s Shotgun Team traveled to San Antonio to compete in the annual San Antonio Livestock Show Junior Shootout. The Crusaders competed against over 1,000 other high school shooters from Texas and did quite well.
Blythe Brooks ’24 performed exceptionally well in San Antonio competing in the Open Girls FFA competition. She beat out 70 girls from all over the state to claim first place, earning a $10,000 scholarship and a huge belt buckle. This was a first for the program and everyone was proud of her focus for locking in on the clays and shooting consistently.
The Crusaders had four students make the finals in Sporting Clays discipline which provided them an opportunity to shoot another 100 targets to tack on to their score to make a combined score out of 200.
In the FFA Open Boys Sporting Clays:
- Gage Pattavina ’24 shot a 169 to finish 14th
- Carson Seymour ’23 shot a 164 to finish 25th
In the FFA Open Girls Sporting Clays:
- Blythe Brooks ’24 shot a 163 to win the competition
- Jayden Schoppe ’24 shot a 145 to finish 13th
In other disciplines, Concordia had a few other top 25 finishes including:
- Nicolas Baquero ’23 finished 8th out of 266 shooters in Trap
- Carson Seymour ’23 finished 10th out of 150 shooters in Doubles Trap.

- Brooks finished as the 4th HOA FFA Girl
- Seymour finished as the 14th HOA FFA Boy
